My Kelly Moore bag arrived!

Standard

I wrote about camera bags already ages ago. A couple of years ago the market was quite poor, most of the bags were just of that extremely sporty type, all velcro and what not. And when I discovered Kelly Moore bags, I immediately put them on my wish list. But since the bags were shipped from the USA, I was not sure if I should order – too much fuss with customs, returns etc. Plus they are not exactly budget bags. So I waited. A couple of weeks ago, when I got a new lens and additional motivational kick to take pictures and continue with this littlo blog,  I decided to google the camera bags again. And what do you know, I found an online shop that stocks proper camera bags. They have a really nice selection of bags. I would not say awesome, because to be frank, such camera bags have still a way to go. Especially when it comes decorative details. But I am glad that there are many more options now available. Plus, the service is really amazeballs.

So. Without further ado – my new 2 Sues bag!

DSC_0038-002

I had my choice narrowed down to two bags – 2Sues and Songbird. While Songbirds was of such a vibrant blue colour, which I love, and in general looked very cool, I found it to be a tad uncomfortable. I do not like carrying my handbags messenger style and it was too bulky under my arm. So the choice was obvious – 2Sues it was. I like that it is slouchy and has so many bells an whistles (but if you visit Kelly Moore website and watch videos about the bags, you will see that all the bags are equipped with pockets for all purposes imaginable. I do not want to go into too much detail, because the videos do speak for themselves. You can take a tour around the 2Sues bag either on the official website or on the photoqueen online shop.

MMM with HM

Standard

Yep, it’s been a while. If only thoughts would magically transfer on to the digital paper, my blog would be flooded with posts and my head would be a lot lighter.

So, MMM. My H&M package arrived yesterday with all the Margiela goodness. Some stuff I will keep, but some awesome goodies will be going back. Like the already infamous candy bag. There’s been too much of it on the internets and I do not want to feel like a copy cat. Plus the sizing was a bit annoying, to fit my hands it either had to be wider or shorter. I don’t want to carry annoying stuff, no matter how awesomely obnoxious and in your face it were. Pity though, it is pretty cool.

I will not pretend to be a fan of Margiela, but their designs sure do stick to ones mind. I had a thing for their high top sneakers for quite a while now. And as I said, though I am not a fan, this collaboration was really something. Maybe because I always wanted to have different stuff, than other people have. I think this collections is for such people. Something classy and yet with a twist, you know, like something’s a bit off. I wonder how my co workers will react, when I show up in my sweater from the 90s collection with the stitches on the outside, stuff sticking out in places it is not supposed to stick out on “normal” clothing. I already am labeled as a fashion queen at work (and not necessarily in a good way, you know, like hobbits who are not supposed to do anything unexpected and when one does, then he is labeled disturber of the peace), though I do try to keep it relatively mellow. Anyway, here’s the sweater.

The best MMM for HM ambassadors would be the Beckerman sisters, methinks. So if you are interested how the pieces look live, go check out their latest posts, candy clutch included and sea of shoes had good photos of the pieces as well.

Cheers

Blue and green with plastic on top

Standard

And while I am on a roll, here is a little something from Polyvore. But don’t get me started on what they did to the system. It is not at all intuitive anymore. What’s with all the crappy templates?! They really made some changes for the worse.

Blue and green with plastic on top

I am exposed to too much fashion reads, pastels are everywhere right now. And I am really having a thing for this type of pastel green lately. So not only the sunnies are arriving, but also the green sandals from Aldo Rise Preen! I was excited, because those shoe collaborations have gone quietly…I discovered them by accident and boy was I happy to see them almost half off, because they launched some time in March. I read some unkind reviews afterwards though and my excitement ist turning to scepticism…..oh well, I can always send them back.

Sunnies

Standard

I don’t mean to be snappish, but eyes are serious shit. Am I right? So I usually buy sunnies not just with UV filter, but also polarized. It is really great, especially when one is driving a car. The annoying thing is, that there are not that many choices with polarized lenses and I end up buying just OK glasses, not too expensive and that suit me, but they never have that ME factor…and so I caved and bought simple sun glasses going against my principles. Behold!

They are from H&M for Water collection and I am expecting to get them in the mail any day now. I love that retro something in their design – just lacks a convertible a 50s style dress and a scarf .

And the contrasting black and white frame makes them look even more non standard. I hope they will not be too big for mah face!

Jean shorts

Standard

There was quite a huge trend last summer methinks, where almost all blogs and fashion mags where jumping on a cut offs’ wagon. I love jean shorts myself, but had to wait it out until the trend died down. When it is on a roll, the outfit will be lost in a see of the same stuff everyone wears. Dunno…would make it less special or would feel like mimicking.

So anyway. I finally got myself some awesome jean shorts on H&M sale. Don’t think they are summer appropriate though – the material is quite thick. So just after I got them in November or December, they turned into my Autumn uniform.

Wearing: sweater and shorts – H&M, button down – Etam, boots – Timberland.

Paired with opaque tights was very weather appropriate (and I do dress weather appropriate 99% of the time).

Let’s talk boots now. I did not have any flat shoes for the transitional (or however you want to call it) weather. When it is no longer warm enough to wear ballerinas, but not quite the time for the boots with fur.

I am really happy with this acquisition – I am wearing the boots all the time – they are and look awesome, so cost per wear is reducing as we speak. The 150Eur price tag is completely justified and approved. I had to go half a size up though, cause my usual size 38 (UK 5) was a bit narrow and I like to keep the option open to wear more than one pair of socks without compromising the blood flow to and from my feet.

I will leave all the responsible and green aspect of the boots aside. Cause even though there are partly recycled materials used in the production of the boots, yet those boots are not made locally blah blah blah and not sure if the recycling would compensate for the carbon footprint due to transportation and what not. I just think that these are good looking boots of great quality and I am sure I will be wearing them for years to come. Also not bad, that a couple of plastic bottles where turned into parts of the shoe, right? And I said I would leave this aside..whatevs.

Here is a detailed shot of a sweater. All of my sweaters are sortta shape revealing and lately I felt like I need to get some stuff, that is looser. The colour is something I’ve been drawn to for a while and I like the littlo pocket.
Not sure how long the sweater is going to last, since the quality ist not superb, but I think it already paid off, cause I wear it “ALL THE TIME” (HOW ANNOYING IS THIS PHRASE?!)

Cheers.

THE Leggings

Standard

I finally figured out my password to my gmail account for the gallery with all the blog photos. I think I harassed someone accidentally, because it appears that I had forgotten my username as well and send requests about forgotten passwords and account unlocking to Google about someone else accounts…

THE leggings and what an odyssey it was to get them.. I was sitting half a day on November 17th clicking refresh every couple of minutes, since the website of H&M was not able to handle all the crazy shoppers.

Guess what? After the package arrived, surprise surprise – leggings were in a totally different size than I ordered! I was really disappointed and pissed. Who can mix up 36 with 42?! There was immediate rushing to the computer to order another pair. And of course 36 had already sold out. So I got 38 instead. Then after a couple of weeks the package came again. Oh joy! Tearing of a package and!..huh? Am I missing something? There was supposed to be a bag with some extremely bright seizure inducing colours here. Turns out – they sent me a long ugly coloured too big in size cardigan!

Anyway, I did not want to do anything anymore with H&M online store for this particular item(of course I called and yelled at them that I do not want to buy this thing anymore..another long story), so I ordered them on Ebay. Of course, I could have waited for ladies to return the stuff, since they had realized by now that they will not wear the clown leggings (I saw such comment on the interwebs – apparently clowns wear such pants..I thought they wear huge wide leg ones..whatever) and I could have gotten them eventually and maybe even on sale. But since I was really really really obsessed with those damn leggings and really really really pissed with the store, that I did not care anymore that I had to overpay on Ebay.

So. Here they are! (drums) The epic leggings from the epic Versace for H&M collection.

Naturally we are not experiencing the weather for suitable for the above outfits yet, but the world deserves to see.

Wearing:

The first picture: H&M dress, THE leggings and asos wedge shoes.

The second picture: shirt from my husband’s closet, belt from my mom’s closet, THE leggings and the Pretty Ballerinas. There is also a Desigual clutch in my hands. Nevermind the hair thing on my wrist.

So there.

Investment

Standard

When I moved to Germany and did not have a job for a while, a change of shopping attitude was in order. During that time I learned how to buy stuff. Most of my purchases from that time were bought on sale or at least some of the credit from earlier purchases used. So I never paid full price. The buys were also considered for a while before buying, because I had to make sure I will use the stuff. I am proud to say – none of the things lay around.

Since I have a job again and can put some money aside I decided to go back to my original philosophy of paying a bit more for shoes or bags, but getting my money’s worth. I have shoes that I bought 5 years ago they are still in a good condition, despite being worn rather often. And there are bags that I used daily for several years and after getting sick of them I gave them to my mom. And she gladly uses them now. So you see what I am getting at.

Now even if I can afford to do a bit of shopping now and then, I made a conscious decision not to buy stuff for a full price unless it is something really special and I cannot continue my existence without it (which happens rather rarely). It is a bit annoying to wait for a sale. And after you got stuff on sale you will not necessarily be able to wear the stuff directly (which I prefer) due to the fact that the season has already come to an end and you will need to wait about half a year to wear it… but at least you will not have overpaid. Of course, this also mean, that you will most likely jump on a trend wagon later than everyone else and that feels a bit like mimicking… Which bothers me and because of this fact some outfits were not photographed. But oh well, I do not buy stuff for being trendy, I buy stuff for being awesome regardless if it is on trend or not. They will make it to the blog eventually.

Anyway. Back to shoes and bags… I guess that is an investment of sorts. I would like to pass those on to my kids someday. I remember when I used to play with my mom’s old purses and shoes a lot as a kid and it would bring me a lot of joy… I hope to give that to my kids one day too.

So, here is my first investment so to speak. The shoes were on sale and I got a coupon from my in laws for Christmas:

Pretty Ballerinas with a bow

Rather expensive brand of shoes- Pretty Ballerinas, I don’t think I would ever let myself pay a full price, plus you can always get something from last season significantly cheaper. But I read only good reviews so far and they do look really good and are comfortable. They are cut very nicely so the edges do not cut into my bones (I had once a pair of really nicely looking ballerinas from Zara..they would kill my littlo bones on the inner side of a foot even when I wore them only in the office and did not do too much of walking. Death to such shoes!), which is very important. Will see how it will go in Spring, when I can take them out. I expect some blisters on the heel, but it is a usual thing for me. Other than that, it does not feel that the shoes need any kind of breaking in, which is also a good sign. My feet are a bit on a wide side and I try to refrain from shoes which need breaking in. Our feet are entitled to a better treatment, am I right?

So the moral of the story is – I guess that it can be another New Year’s resolution – buy good bags and shoes. On sale. Make an heirloom out of your stuff. Make your closet be worth something.

p.s. I guess there will be a lot of stalking on Ebay and Yoox this year…

Bringing order to Chaos

Standard

…it’s been a while. But now I have teh Interwebs back…and if I will not be too lazy, will write down some thoughts.

Since I have no proper photos, will write about my latest joy – order in my bag. So my friends gave me 50 Euros to spend on amazon…I thought, awesome – books, ftw. But after we got the kindle and books are not that expensive for us anymore (though still expensive for something that has no substance, basically and costs like nothing to send) I decided to get something that I will be enjoying every day.

I’ve been nursing this thought for  a while now – getting some cosmetic bags and using them to store all the crap that I drag around with me everyday (big surprise, girls and their huge bags). Since I had some money at my disposal I went for something that I wouldn’t have normally bought for myself…I would have been simply to scroogie  for that 😀 But this time i did it. I went and bought myself three cosmetic bags from Fossil, a brand I really love, but can rarely afford.

Can this be any cuter?
So, one bag I use for medicine (for example aspirin), bandages and other stuff. The middle one is used for chargers, USB sticks and similar crap. I haven’t come up with a use for the biggest bag yet, but for now I store all my night stand joys in there – all the foot, hand creams, lotions etc. So two bags seems enough.
Or does it?… This bright thing there is a key/coin purse.
More colour for upcoming gloomy days. This thing is used for my home keys and the office card. Plus, I put my car key in there too, when I arrive to work so I do not dig in my bag when I have to leave for home.
So there, colourful and easy way to bring some order and joy into our bags 🙂
Cheers.

Summer favorites

Standard

My reaction to the trend that I like usually goes like this:
First phase – ooooooh! Like! Want!
Second phase – damn, they’re all over the interwebs… looks like an incubator…me no like.
Third phase – hm, are ALL the girls still wearing it or can I buy it already?

This is just some random picture of me in my pink hat, so that the post would not look too lame.

Before I started reading fashion blogs, I never questioned if a trend is still fashionable, can I wear it? Frankly, I still don’t. As I mentioned before, if a trend catches on – it means you will have an enormous variety of choice. If you find something that fits you well, it does not matter if it is still trendy or not, you can wear it all you want. My only problem is, I need to wait until the big wave of the trend passes, so I would not feel like the trend obsessed gal and question if my judgment has been impaired by looking at too many pictures with nice outfits.

Now to the point – you know all those cut offs we’ve been seeing since last year? This trend brought me back to my teenage years, where I really wanted to cut all the pant legs off of my jeans (and I actually ruined a pair).

Anyway, this weekend we decided to do some live shopping and actually went to the store. It was pretty efficient and we did not get tired and worn out after the trip. The secret to successful shopping – setting a goal. In my case it was H&M, a pair of cut off jean shorts. I did my research online and found quite a lot of options, so this was my store of choice.

Here is another random picture to cut in the boredom of looking at a lot of letters. I will call it very artsy – Ladybug on Parsley.

There are a few things that I do not like about H&M. The stores are so huge and there are always so many people. Another annoying thing is, that organization in the store is usually beyond my understanding. All jean shorts hang in all different kind of places and you need to scout the whole store before you find all you need. And I needed to try all kinds of cut offs, since I had no idea what would look good on me. Eventually I picked four kinds and ended up narrowing down to two. One pair I grabbed just because of the light fabric, they were just denim shorts, not cut offs.

The actual cut offs I chose wear husband (boyfriend…whatever) cut. Thought they looked gooo-h-ood, the fabric was too thick for the summer and I decided not to get them.  They looked something like this, just the colour was a bit lighter:

I ended up getting the shorts that were not actual cut offs. Plus one stripey top.

And I must say, I found my summer’s favorites for this year. They go very well together and with other stuff in my closet as well. I am not very happy with the quality of the top, so I will be a bit disappointed, when it will fall apart in about 5 washing cycles, but oh well.

Cheers.

Outfit post (Shoe challenge #2)

Standard

The sun is finally coming out and Spring seems to have finally arrived. As a consequence I am not feeling so sleepy all the time. That’s why I give you!..the result of a Sunday walk.

Outfit: jeans and tank top – Esprit, hoodie – Vertus (some Polish knock off brand I think), jacket – Tiks, belt – Fat Face,  Shoes – Converse, sunnies – Polaroid.

This week we discovered that it is now allowed to go behind the nearby forest into some former mining area (pictures to come). We had quite a stroll and took some nice pictures. It was quite a perfect time to practice my posing – not many people around. But now I think that it is not worth it – it is much more fun to have strange photos that reflect my personality. For example on the picture on the left I am about to sneeze.

Anyway, no fancy shoes to show off, I do not tend to wear heels in the fields or forest. Hence, the reasonable choice – Converse. I acquired them in London a couple of years ago. I bought the jeans in London as well, got quite a good bargain if I remember correctly.

Since I needed some comfortable outfit for a long walk, I just added some colour with the weird belt and a tank top, not to be totally gloomy. I think it still looks better than the standard German outfit for such a thing – couples usually look totally alike – wearing jack wolfskin windbreakers (or of some similar company), jeans and trekking shoes and usually accessorize  with those sticks for walking (you know, the ones that look like skiing sticks) and a big dog.

People often assume I am an angry person, but it is just my facial expression 😀 It indicates how well I’ve slept the night before. Not very well, judging from the above pictures. And since I do not hide behind the ton of make up, this is what you see in the pictures – angry me! Deal with it.

Enough of none essential BS, here are the details of my outfit. My belt, which I bought while being stranded at Heathrow airport – my flight was insanely delayed and I, of course, searched for comfort in retail therapy. (Btw,  it turns out I wore the belt upside down…my typical scatter brainness.)

There is a silhouette of a horsie on my hoodie, even has mane and stuffs. You like?

Cheers.

p.s. check the Shoeperwoman website for more info about the shoe challenge.
