Repetition 2

I like new stuff. Even though it is rather consumerist, but new things have a positive effect on me. If I am even contemplating on getting a new piece, I get immediate rush of creativity – all kinds of outfits start popping in my head.

I was not sure about the dress. It is quite a staple on its own. It makes the outfit. So it seems too easy, you don’t need much effort in choosing the rest of the stuff. And I am not the one to do the things the easy way. But I sure am glad, that I convinced myself to get the dress after all.

And the dress has a story of course, not just me contemplating whether or not to get it. I got it back in July, when I went to Detroit for work. And shopping at an outlet mall was a must experience. My colleague and friend was coming to the mall to shop with me after her 9 hour flight. Talk about dedication! Unfortunately some later experiences turned my journey a bit sour – I got stuck at the airport the next day due to the cancelled flight and celebrated my birthday the next day in the office and on a subsequent flight home…Ridiculous way to celebrate your 30th, especially when you decide to drown your sorrows and flight attendant asks if you are old enough to drink alcohol. And this is the point – clothes have sentimental value.

Back to the outfit and how little effort is good sometimes. You just switch the shoes and you’re good to go. No lingering in front of the closet.

Outfit 1: dress – Calvin Klein, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – Zara.

so in the next couple of years I will be as poor as a church mouse because we plan to build a house and my husband will also be working just part time in order to finish his studies. Which means major change in our budget. And this means – no more shopping except for the absolute necessary, ya know – socks and underwear and stuff. But I am in the need of constant change in my wardrobe. And this blog will have to assist me in not getting sick with the same clothes over and over and over again.

As you can see from the post title – I will try to make this into a series of posts.

Here we have two mug shots. Same dress – two ways (this sounds tired…but oh well). And there you have it – one sporty and one girly outfit involving accessory change and that’s it.

And a close up of the shoes, since you cannot really see properly in the pictures above. Swedish Hasbeens, I got for a third of the original price (score!) back in May. I loooove them. I can never wear peep toes, because the press on my toes which in order gives me blisters and a world of pain. These, however, do not!

And my beloved Converse with Marimekko print, which you’ve already seen here:

And a bonus detail shot of the dress and a bag.

and some more mug shots with the bad lighting.

Cheers.

Butterflies

Standard

As I mentioned in one post before – one part of the botanical garden in Marburg is especially cool – the butterfly house.

We color-coordinated outfits with the butterfly above.

Not much to tell – was the third time trolling around the garden, so just no story here. Just an outfit and some pictures of butterflies.

Botanical Garden

Standard

so after two years of living here, we’ve finally managed to get our butts to this magical place that is botanical garden in Marburg.

Naturally it was only fitting to wear something with flowers. I got this dress on a disappointing shopping trip in Dusseldorf, where I was working at the time. It was the only thing I got that day and a colleague of mine came back empty handed.

It was pretty damn hot that day, which turned us into demotivated snails – we were shuffling around the place while being on a constant lookout for benches in the shade. Still the experience was really nice. I liked the green houses a lot, especially the butterfly area and the Mexico with all the cactuses (I KNOW, it is cacti). More pictures still to come.

I am also expanding my collection of the hats, but I still don’t have anything that would have gone well with this outfit. The sun was really blazing and we, of course, went during the hottest hours of the day. I just had to have something to cover my head, even though I was not really feeling that the hat goes with the whole outfit. Oh well, at least I can say, I am not a total fashion victim.

Cheers.

Outfit: dress- H&M, bag – vintage from grandma, hat – Seeberger, shoes – Toms.

THE Leggings

Standard

I finally figured out my password to my gmail account for the gallery with all the blog photos. I think I harassed someone accidentally, because it appears that I had forgotten my username as well and send requests about forgotten passwords and account unlocking to Google about someone else accounts…

THE leggings and what an odyssey it was to get them.. I was sitting half a day on November 17th clicking refresh every couple of minutes, since the website of H&M was not able to handle all the crazy shoppers.

Guess what? After the package arrived, surprise surprise – leggings were in a totally different size than I ordered! I was really disappointed and pissed. Who can mix up 36 with 42?! There was immediate rushing to the computer to order another pair. And of course 36 had already sold out. So I got 38 instead. Then after a couple of weeks the package came again. Oh joy! Tearing of a package and!..huh? Am I missing something? There was supposed to be a bag with some extremely bright seizure inducing colours here. Turns out – they sent me a long ugly coloured too big in size cardigan!

Anyway, I did not want to do anything anymore with H&M online store for this particular item(of course I called and yelled at them that I do not want to buy this thing anymore..another long story), so I ordered them on Ebay. Of course, I could have waited for ladies to return the stuff, since they had realized by now that they will not wear the clown leggings (I saw such comment on the interwebs – apparently clowns wear such pants..I thought they wear huge wide leg ones..whatever) and I could have gotten them eventually and maybe even on sale. But since I was really really really obsessed with those damn leggings and really really really pissed with the store, that I did not care anymore that I had to overpay on Ebay.

So. Here they are! (drums) The epic leggings from the epic Versace for H&M collection.

Naturally we are not experiencing the weather for suitable for the above outfits yet, but the world deserves to see.

Wearing:

The first picture: H&M dress, THE leggings and asos wedge shoes.

The second picture: shirt from my husband’s closet, belt from my mom’s closet, THE leggings and the Pretty Ballerinas. There is also a Desigual clutch in my hands. Nevermind the hair thing on my wrist.

So there.

Outfit post. Wedding.

Standard

So, we were not too lucky with the weather, but for picture time at least it stopped raining 🙂 We went to the castle of Paffendorf for some nice surroundings. (I put the breakdown of the outfit at the end of the post.)

Here we are sitting in front of the castle. Behind us is a very nice park.

I kept changing the shoes, because the ones that I got for the ceremony were so uncomfortable to walk in. It is very weird, because otherwise they are very comfy and do not hurt. But the process of actual walking is very inconvenient, despite the practice at home. So I guess these shoes will wait for a sitting down occasion to be taken out.

Since I am not a white dress type of bride and just wanted something unconvetional, that goes with my shoes that I had already ordered, I spent quite a lot of time on the internets looking for a dress. I had a lot of choices, mostly a one coloured dress or a shirt and skirt combination. You know, make the shoes stick out. Unfortunatelly everything seemed too simple for my taste. Once I saw this Eucalyptus dress, I decided that this is the one. Unfortunately it was a similar odissey as with my shoes. Asos did not have my size or colour. So I was googling all over to find it. Eventually I found it on Ebay in my size and the location of the dress was around 30 km from where I live 🙂 It was definitely a sign. It cost me around 29Euros inculding shipping!

I love that the dress is a bit puffed up, so I did not need to buy a petticoat and I can wear it as a regular dress, not just hang it in the closet for eternity to remember that one day that I wore it. The dress has six buttons in front so it is easy to put on. I think on some fancy occassion I could wear it as an overcoat or smth. 🙂

Aprons were a gift from my sister-in-law. They are quite awesome, everyone loved them 😀

My witness, who was also a photographer, said that the rubber boots are the best part of the outfit 😀

In the above picture – we wanted to have some serious schoolchildren expressions, but we could not stop smirking 😀

And here are the outfits that we were wearing during the ceremony.

My outfit: dress – Eucalyptus, shoes – Irregular choice, earrings – gift from my cousin (around two years ago), parka – pac-a-parka from asos. I grabbed a parka for a short walk to the town hall (much too fancy of a word to describe the actual thing).

My husband’s (!) oufit: shirt and jacket – H&M, jeans – Mustang (inherited from deceased uncle), shoes – converse.

My mom loved my parka so much (you can pack it into the small pouch that is sown on the inside of the parka itself), that asked me to get her one too, unfortunatelly they are not available anymore…

We had few stressfull days (especially after the wedding, because our dear pet ferret died the next day – rest in peace our good bear), so I am sad, tired and do lack inspiration to post. I hope my imaginary readers will forgive me.

Cheers.

Outfit Post

I haven’t figured out the strategy for taking pictures of my outfits yet. It is quite dark in our apartment and I need to do some scouting in the neighbourhood for suitable locations. So for now, just pictures of clothes on the floor (and supposedly fancy picasa tuning) 😀

After a long period of bright colours, lately I’ve been experiencing a thing for all things grey and black. But added a splash of colour, in order not to blend in with the grey rain 🙂

The sweater is from H&M. I got it in early spring in Cologne.

The dress is from H&M, I bought it last year in Düsseldorf.

And of course, crazy rubber boots from amazon for rainy day to keep me dry and smiling.

Cheers.
