Eurovision Fashion 2011. Serbia.

Standard

Eurovision is a strange phenomenon. A lot of people know it, even more don’t. Some love it, some hate it. I am a weird kind of viewer – for me it’s like a sports game – I can pretend to be an expert and comment on the performance of the participants, the sound, the quality, the meaning (or lack of) of lyrics and most of all – stage outfits.

In the past few years it was starting to get really sad. If it is a guy – then jeans and shirt or maybe a suit, if it is a lady – a dress, as tiny as possible for that matter. This year took an unexpected but nice turn towards classy – girls started wearing clothes again. There were quite a few mini dresses, but they did not channel any vibe of cheap. There were some weird choices of course, but all in all – it was quite pleasant to watch.

I would like to share with you my favorite performance – Serbian girls! They were just awesome! The song was nice and sunny and their clothes…Oh my! Retro, ftw! Colors! This is what I want to wear every day!

Oh the colorful tights and funky shoes πŸ˜€ and print dresses and earrings. There is just so much of epic going on.

And here is the official video

Enjoy!

Outfit post. Shoe Challenge #3

Standard

I took advantage of the good weather to take some pictures for the shoe challenge (check the Shoeperwoman website for more detail). These shoes, though are my current favorite, are also quite difficult to incorporate into an outfit. They look good with rolled up jeans, but I just couldn’t be bothered shaving my legs just for few pictures, hence the black tights. So sue me.

Outfit: skirt and tank top – Esprit, top – H&M jacket – Tiks, shoes – Asos Totally Suede, scarf – Soaked in Luxury, earrings – from India.

There’s not much to report today, except that I cleaned the windows, so just enjoy the pictures πŸ™‚

Cheers

Annoyance

Standard

I didn’t have proper conditions to take pictures of this outfit, when I was wearing it (what a surprise…). Just before New Year my husband and I went to see ‘Grease’ (the clothes were awesome πŸ˜€ performance…not so much). Light in the evening was, of course, crappy, so I thought to myself – next time…

Today while laying in bed I finally realized, that there actually IS a spot at home, that I could use for taking pictures, just need to move some stuff around, but… It is a plain white wall and my camera very stubbornly refused to focus automatically…my visions is worse thanΒ  my camera’s so my manual focus magic didn’t turn out too well either…There were more outfits from this infamous photo shoot, but everything is blurry, in other words – total embarrassment… Not that this isn’t, but I am just sick of not having posted any outfits in a while because of the quality of the pictures. So, the point is to document what I wear, evaluate and evolve, right? πŸ™‚ In other words – no matter how lame the pictures are, at least these have to reach the world out there.

Outfit is not exactly complete – no make up unfortunately, but I got so annoyed adjusting the camera, that I could not be bothered putting more effort into something that is usually not very important for me (or was…as of Christmas I expanded my make up kit and it is not limited anymore to just mascara). Also, I was wearing a black long sleeved top under the dress, so I would not get cold.

Outfit: dress – Promod, belt – vintage from my mom, boots – Bronx, tights – Asos, ring – something from Disney collection, cannot remember the brand, earrings – from India.

I just love this trend, that’s been around for quite a long while now – BELTING! FTW! I think it is a really nice way to add that something to the outfit. I am not very good at it…yet πŸ˜€ This is the only outfit so far that I can pull off (except for belts in jeans, which are more of a necessity rather than a fashion choice).

The ring was a birthday gift from my friends (from my wish list), it is from Alice in Wonderland collection or smth :). Follow the white rabbit (Matrix alert!…dear lord…my mind just cannot stick to one thing at a time, can it?). Continuing a short acquisition story – I bought the dress back in 2008, when I worked in Budapest. Quite nice to have things from all over the world in my closet πŸ™‚ It is not just about fashion or style, but also – about memories πŸ™‚ And this dress did enjoy Budapest πŸ˜€

Cheers.

p.s. note to self – get a remote control for the camera.

Outfit post. Hippy vibes.

Standard

On Saturday we did some random running around the town, buying expensive food and stuff. Got some fancy oil with herbs, some Christmas liquors to try out (considering to make this year’s gifts edible/drinkable :)). No no, we’re not in Christmas shopping frenzy, but it never hurts to have ideas, right?

My wedge ankle boots are the bestest shoes I own and I wear them almost all the time. Since they have a littlo hippy vibe to them and 70 rock in general, I went for my flared jeans (not sure if this kind of cut is called flare, but it is wider than boot cut, so I think it should be flare :D) and hippy blouse from zara. I like the blue and yellow combination from earlier post, so thought – you can never go wrong with this πŸ˜€ Other stuff – my standard Autumn coat and also my standard Autumn/Winter bag from Sisley (during this time of year this combination is sort of inescapable…).

Outfit: jacket and jeans – Esprit, shirt – pull and bear, top – Zara, shoes – ASOS, bag – sisley, scarf – soaked in luxury.

So far I think the photos for this post turned out the best out of all my photo shoots (thanks to my photographer/husband, who was carrying the bags and was patient enought to take photos :)). I remembered to smile more or less while posing and didn’t forget to pose while smiling :D. Plus, didn’t forget to get some detail shots. Improvin’ – you’re doin’ it rite πŸ™‚

p.s. one of these earrings broke..I have no idea how – I was just stading in the bathroom in front of the mirror and one of the stones just fell into the sink… Mah man needed to perform some plumbing exercises on the sink to get it out…

Cheers.

Outfit post. Grey on Grey and Jeans.

Standard

It was a totally lazy Sunday. On Saturday we did quite a lot of cleaning in the house (including getting rid of expired food and defrosting the fridge…ick…), so on Sunday we just watched Battlestar Galactica and were lazy for the most part of the day).

Outfit corresponds to my mood, which is – “I just couldn’t be bothered…”

I put on my current favourite grey jersey top over my husband’s t-shirt, put on jeans, converse and a snugly long cardigan instead of a jacket.

Oufit: top – ASOS, t-shirt – fruit of the loom, jeans – Esprit, shoes – Converse, cardigan – Only, earrings – from the fair in Vilnius.

Pimpin’.

Closer look at earrings. They are supposedly made of Venecian glass…

Signature “bye bye feet” shot. And evidence of Autumn.

Confused plant.

Outfit post (Berlin)

Standard

So, I’ve gone to Berlin this weekend for my friend’s surprise birthday party. Just some pictures for now, stories – a bit later. All I can tellΒ  that we walked A LOT. Since mah man and some other people were in Berlin for the first time, naturally all touristy sightseeing was a must πŸ™‚

I am wearing t-shirt – Aboriginal, jeans and belt – Esprit, bag – vintage, shoes – blowfish, bangles – from India and Lithuania, earrings – from India.

And here in the Tacheles squat (more on that in another post) all tired. Top – Mango, shorts – Broadway, belt – from a dress by H&M, sandals – Oasis, bag – vintage, earrings (you cannot see here) – gift from my grandma. Mah man – t- shirt and shorts from Esprit, shoes –Β  Converse, sunnies – Polaroid.

More photos of our trip to come.

Cheers.

P.S. while we were in Berlin my tripod had arrived – YAY! Now I can make proper photos on my own πŸ˜€

Yesterday I got to try the new pair shoes I got from Asos instead of my Steve Madden sandals πŸ™‚ They are perfect. The colour, the shape, the leather and they are so comfortable! Also, the ankle strap is not too high, so does not give the optical illusion of a short leg. So, I can further develop my new found love for grey colour.

I used to have an opinion, that if the company makes clothes, then it is most likely that the shoes it produces will be rather crappy – uncomfortable, bad quality or, dunno, something else. I rather trust my feet exlusively to shoe companies. But since Asos has a large collection of shoes, I decided to take my chance and I do not regret πŸ˜€

Lame pose -me, top and cardigan – Esprit, skirt –Β  Benetton, shoes and brooch – Asos, bag – Mango, bangles – from Lithuania and India, earrings – from India, sunnies – Polaroid.

In the morning was a bit cooler so originally the shoes were paired up with jeans (the shoes go really well with almost all of my jeans, which are normally too long for flats and I need to roll them up). I wanted to make some nice pictures in the park, but by the time we managed to actually go to the park it was too warm for jeans so I slipped into my Summer’s favorite skirt.

Since I am new to all this personal style blogging, I am still learning. After I uploaded photos for this post, I noticed that I wore a lot of same stuff (same top, skirt, bag, bangles)…hm…So will need to do something else in the near future. But for now let it be a topic on how to wear the same thing different ways :). After all, we do find clothes that are the most comfortable to us and stick to them, am I right?

Anyway. The skirt you’ve seen here. The bag was featured so far in almost all of my posts as the top and it’s twin too. About the cardigan I wrote here. I also got brooch from asos. I was eyeing it ever since I saw it on the website. Now that it was on sale, I decided to go for it, since I was ordering the shoes from there anyway πŸ™‚

Asos brooch (Miu Miu knock off much :D) Miu Miu swallow brooch.

I just cannot act normal and pose professionally, I need to make a fool out of myself. Here is the proof πŸ˜€

The pictures were made in the castle of Paffendorf, which has a really lovely park.

And here is the park itself.

And here’s us – my dear camera man and me. In the next post you will see his outfit with more description as well πŸ™‚

And also, you can see my earrings. They have a butterfly shape and are quite heavy. I finally got them out of my jewelry box this summer. Before I could not find an outfit that they would go with. Not to self: never get rid of the stuff that you love, but cannot find a way to wear it. Just wait. The time will come.

Cheers.

Outfit post (what I wore this Summer)

Standard

Since the weather does not allow me to repeat any outfits that I wore this Summer, and take pictures, I need to dress up for a ‘photoshoot’ πŸ™‚

Here we go. This was an outfit that I sported several times back in June and July.

Top – Esprit, skirt and earrings – from a market in India, Sandals – Oasis, bag – vintage (I never thought that I would use such a fancy word to describe a bag I got from my grandma :D), bangles – India, Lithuania, Russia.

Please subtract the glasses from the picture. During the peak of usage of this outfit, it was simply too hot and too annoying to wear glasses, I needed to stick contacts in my eyes.

The skirt was aquired back in Autumn of 2007, when I was in India for my SAP course (yes, I’m a geek). Me and my colleagues went to the market called Dilli Haat (cannot guarantee that this is the correct spelling) to get presents for the people waiting for them back home :D. You need to pay to enter this market, I am a bit afraid to lie how much it costs, but it is really cheap (less than 1 euro for sure…maybe 15 rupees), but because of this fee there are no beggars, which, if you’ve been to India you will agree, is really relieving. The sellers rotate every two weeks, so you never know what you might find there. We bought a huge pile of wool scarves for ‘special price’, which would be given by us :). My colleague annoyed the sellers (he may have been Indian in his past life) until they would cave πŸ˜€ Anyway. I saw this skirt in that market too, while looking for a present for my niece. (She got a skirt with littlo bells :)) It is slightly too big, but I make it work :).

The bag goes really well with this whole outfit, IMHO. Strentghens the hippie vibe. I remember I asked my grandma around 9 years ago if she still had the bag and she asked to make sure – ‘that potatoe sack?’. After I got it from her, I dragged it around with me A LOT. Since it is made out of some synthetic material which is rather hard, the straps would break from time to time, my father was regularly employed by me to sow them back together πŸ™‚ This Summer I took the bag out again. It is awesome and I can say, that I have true piece of vintage in my closet :D.

The shoes (please nevermind the non existant pedicure). After seeing a collection from Prada with chandelier sandals and investigating Melissa Lady dragon shoes, I knew I would not be opposed to wearing plastic shoes. This was just a thought in the back of my head, not a conscious decision. But after I saw these on Asos, while looking for flat sandals for Summer, I knew I have to get them. They were definitely a hit this Summer, I wore them non stop. They go with everything πŸ˜€

Earrings. I got them at the same Dilli Haat market in India. All earrings I got in India are so heavy…They drag my ears down, but oh well, I love them!

Btw, I got a new haircut πŸ™‚ It is perfect to have a friend who is a hairdresser. πŸ™‚

Cheers.
