One of the boys

Standard

OK, so this is a more boyish outfit, than I normally wear. I would have been quit comfy in it, if it weren’t for the pants, which keep sliding down…and they have only tiny belt loops for a tiny belt, which does not hold your pants anyway…And the shoes are not the comfiest, but more on that a bit later.

I tried to make the pants look good, but you’ll be the judge of that. Now I know why models get paid…Not everyone can make anything look good…

So, I give you – the awkward pictures.

Some more awkward shots.

Let’s talk sweater for a moment. I got it (of course) on sale last year. I el oh vee e the silk front. Transforms the outfit from boring office to slightly less boring with a twist. And of course my trusty work bag makes an appearance…again. And no, I am not sick of it.

And the shoes – I inherited them – my mom’s friend was about to throw them out, but my mom yelled, that Julija will wear them for sure, grabbed them and did not let go. They do look cool, but…as usual with worn footwear (this is why I do not buy second hand shoes), the shoe adjusted itself to former owner’s foot and of course – in the front they are too tight and in the back too wide…No idea what I am gonna do with them, but they are unfortunately not very wearable. I forget that from time to time and put them on in spite of prior knowledge of their wearability and at the end of the day I just curse.

So there, another office outfit.

Outfit: sweater – H&M, pants – H&M, shoes – Bally, bag – Zara.

Cheers.

Cord

Standard

Cord is my best friend, when the temperatures plummet. It doesn’t attract cold, unlike jeans. And if it is on sale – go for it. Just go for it.

Ok, so first – the nicer pictures. Nevermind the hair on the face.

I found the pants while browsing on amazon. Who does not want pants reduced to 18€?! I was a bit paranoid at first, because who reduces pants to 18?! And people were complaining that the quality is not so awesome. I am quite happy though. No ripped pockets or anything.  Does not stretch too much. The only thing I had to do is to take the pants to the tailor and get them shortened. Since I had a bunch of stuff in the To alter pile anyway, it was no biggie. And the result is great – love the new length and the pants do not wrinkle up anymore! I am still contemplating on getting them in another colour. Because it is a well known fact, that winter is coming and not all pants cost 18€.

Here are some awkward pictures… Me picking up trash from the floor etc.

Wore this outfit to work. At first I had a bit of a difficulty styling the pants, because the waist is higher, than that of all of my other pants. And the proportions can look a bit awkward. But I think this one worked out pretty well.

And, of course, close up of the shoes. Pointy toes!

Outfit: blouse – Second Female, cords – also Second Female, blazer – H&M, pumps – Vagabond, bag – Zara.

Cheers.

The mom outfit

Standard

I am feeling a bit uninspired word-wise this rainy weekend. But the outfits are ON. I keep obsessing with what I am going to wear all next week at work. So, sorry for the boring post, I hope the outfit will make up for it. Continuing the topic on midi skirts.

This outfit reminds a bit of the 70s fashion. Midi skirt, no cleavage – all buttoned up or turtleneck-ed. It also really appeals to me, because my mom used to wear similar clothes. I remember her skirts and dresses, when she would pick me up from the kindergarten. She is still so very stylish.

I found this skirt while browsing on ASOS and decided against it, because I did not want to pay more than 60€ for a skirt, and then it got sold out…Fortunately they restocked and coincidence of coincidences – I got a bonus around that time! So, now you are seeing the photos of it. Unfortunately it turned out a bit too big and I had to belt the skirt under the sweater so it would hold around the waist. Just to be on the safe side, I will take it for alterations only in spring, if I do not gain weight, cause I do love to eat and winter is coming…For now, I will need to hide the waist of the skirt under wider tops. I could of course tuck the sweater in (I saw it in a couple of blogs), but even though I find that it can look quite cool, I think on me it would just seem too awkward.

Let us talk about the rest of the pieces. This trench is pretty awesome – I got it last year for my birthday. It has a lining that can be taken out. So I can wear it almost all year round. Highly recommended.

The little Sal decided to take an opportunity to sneak onto the balcony and take part in the photo shoot. She matches my faux fur bag perfectly.

Will definitely weird out the people in the office with this combo. Because, you know – I will look like a mom from the 70s.

I will also be forced to be on trend this Autumn – I have quite a few burgundy pieces and apparently IT IS ON with the burgundy this season. So sorry for that.

I’ve been looking forward to carrying my fluffy bag since the early spring, when I put it aside for something lighter.

The pumps though…were a bit of a disappointment. I love Vagabond shoes and had 4 or 5 pairs of them before (from flip flops to winter boots). I mean, the fit is actually good, they are not too narrow. The color is nice and in general they look good. So what the hell is wrong then? The heel is placed in a part of the sole, that when you walk, you already expect the heel to hit the ground but it does a little moment later and so you walk a tad awkwardly. Which is irritating. I decided to keep them, since I am more or less confined to my desk the whole day. Otherwise they would be back where they came from.

Outfit: trench – Spoom, sweater – H&M, skirt – ASOS, shoes – Vagabond, bag – Pilar Abril

Cheers.

Earthy

Standard

Ever since I hit the big THREE – OH back in July  I’ve been into low key colors. Nothing too pink or at least pink, but not too often. Maturity is catching up with me or something…Thought, does the level of pink in our outfits really define the level of maturity…I doubt it, PINK FOR LIFE!

Back to the topic of low key –  a low key outfit I wore to run some errands on my last day of vacation. Most of the pictures turned out either very serious, me not looking at the camera or me sneezing. The sneezing thing will look much better as a gif…maybe I’ll even make one. But as for the outfit – these pictures were the most suitable to show – you can see details quite well here.

Here we have one more serious expression and a picture of the bag. The bag is not as cool as it looked in the shop. My husband got it for me a couple of years ago, when I saw it at Deichmann, while waiting for the new tires for the car. I expected it to hold its shape a bit better, but it just extends like rubber when you start filling it up with life. Still, I quite like it, especially for colder weather.

and yes, I’ve got a new haircut and am showcasing it from both sides. My hairdresser for some reason cut it and styled it to turn outwards…I looked like a first year student at best and was not sure about what the hell am I going to do with dat hair. I am really not a hair product person and have no idea what to do with hair in general. But apparently, there is nothing flat iron cannot fix. I came up with a very simple routine for the mornings and am really happy with my hair now. Not too short, so I can still bind it in a pig tail and not too long so I can wear it loose and it will not be in my way. Crisis averted (#firstworldproblems). Plus, makes me look like a serious woman at work.

and the shooooooooes. I soooo loooooove theses shoes. I don’t wear them to work, so I savour the time I do get to wear them. Asos sure did a great job with these.

Repetition 1

Standard

so in the next couple of years I will be as poor as a church mouse because we plan to build a house and my husband will also be working just part time in order to finish his studies. Which means major change in our budget. And this means – no more shopping except for the absolute necessary, ya know – socks and underwear and stuff. But I am in the need of constant change in my wardrobe. And this blog will have to assist me in not getting sick with the same clothes over and over and over again.

As you can see from the post title – I will try to make this into a series of posts.

Here we have two mug shots. Same dress – two ways (this sounds tired…but oh well). And there you have it – one sporty and one girly outfit involving accessory change and that’s it.

And a close up of the shoes, since you cannot really see properly in the pictures above. Swedish Hasbeens, I got for a third of the original price (score!) back in May. I loooove them. I can never wear peep toes, because the press on my toes which in order gives me blisters and a world of pain. These, however, do not!

And my beloved Converse with Marimekko print, which you’ve already seen here:

And a bonus detail shot of the dress and a bag.

and some more mug shots with the bad lighting.

Cheers.

Butterflies

Standard

As I mentioned in one post before – one part of the botanical garden in Marburg is especially cool – the butterfly house.

We color-coordinated outfits with the butterfly above.

Not much to tell – was the third time trolling around the garden, so just no story here. Just an outfit and some pictures of butterflies.

Crocs

Standard

That’s right, yo! (I’ve been watching way too many episodes of Breaking Bad). Well not really. No matter how open to all the weirdness that is fashion I am, I still cannot get on board with the “classic” crocs. Though the new models I saw are actually not bad at all. But that is totally off the point.

Continuing the outfits from the botanical garden, I give you – crocodiles and palms.

This skirt happened almost two years ago with Versace for H&M. I hadn’t managed to wear it last summer. But I made sure that it did not lay around my closet this year. Silk in summer – very important. And how about those metal corners! Oh the attention to detail…

I went the easy way with the outfit – white t-shirt – done. Plus, you cannot overstretch your brain in the heat, while making too many complicated decisions. So the easy way – totally justifiable. The bag and shoes are from yesterday’s post, because – see previous sentence.

The bracelet is from ADR for H&M collection and is pretty flashy for my taste. But I managed to squeeze it in a couple of outfits this summer.

And last but not least – the shoes! Crocheted Toms. I am insanely happy with them – were my hand down favorite shoes this summer – proper ventilation – also very important!

I have no idea why, but cactuses (cacti!) seemed fitting in this post, so enjoy:

and some more…

Botanical Garden

Standard

so after two years of living here, we’ve finally managed to get our butts to this magical place that is botanical garden in Marburg.

_DSC0258

Naturally it was only fitting to wear something with flowers. I got this dress on a disappointing shopping trip in Dusseldorf, where I was working at the time. It was the only thing I got that day and a colleague of mine came back empty handed.

It was pretty damn hot that day, which turned us into demotivated snails – we were shuffling around the place while being on a constant lookout for benches in the shade. Still the experience was really nice. I liked the green houses a lot, especially the butterfly area and the Mexico with all the cactuses (I KNOW, it is cacti). More pictures still to come.

I am also expanding my collection of the hats, but I still don’t have anything that would have gone well with this outfit. The sun was really blazing and we, of course, went during the hottest hours of the day. I just had to have something to cover my head, even though I was not really feeling that the hat goes with the whole outfit. Oh well, at least I can say, I am not a total fashion victim.

Cheers.

Outfit: dress- H&M, bag – vintage from grandma, hat – Seeberger, shoes – Toms.

Summer is here!

Standard

aaaah, the temperatures are finally rising and lighter clothing is in order. And though it is starting to get unbearable to work at the office, because why would the employees need air conditioning…35 degrees is pretty acceptable, I will not let it bring me down.

This is not the work outfit, just so you know. I wore this to take a walk in the town and get some ice cream.

A little about the outfit – I got the top and jeans a couple of years ago. I like the looser top, so you get a bit of breeze. I find such tops much more pleasant in the heat. The stripes are always cool to wear, methinks. And nothing screams summer more than the jean shorts.

Sorry, no close up of the shoes yet. Got them for a great price from amazon. I have a thing for yellow lately, but the stuff that I like is usually gone in that color. So in this case I got the next best thing – mint. Apparently it was on quite a roll during the last couple of months in the blogosphere…which almost made me NOT to get them in this colour Smiley

And finally – the HAT! Regular baseball caps just do not work  for me somehow. So this floppy hat and baseball cap hybrid was perfect. And, of course, ON SALE! Now that I see it in the pictures, it gives me a bit of a little red riding hood vibe.

Outfit: top and shorts – H&M from couple of summers ago, shoes – Puma, hat – Ganni.

Cheers.

90s

Standard

And here is the lazies outfit I wore in a while. I usually wear just work clothes every day and something like this happens only on the weekends. Wore this to grab a burger at our favorite diner.

Outfit: T-shirt – Diesel (c/o the husband), Pants – H&M, Sneakers – Converse, Bag – Kelly Moore

I am loving the 90s feel all over the virtual fashion world. Platform shoes, t shirts, distressed denim…My t-shirts are usually fitted to a degree…you know – women’s t-shirts. I decided to step a bit out of my comfort zone and embrace the 90s – as in big t-shirts. I used to wear such shirts with leggings back in the day.

Let us talk pants here as well. I saw theses weird thangs on H&M sale last year and since then they’ve been my favorite summer pants. They are part chinos part cargo pants part I have no idea what. The only mildly irritating thing is – they stretch too much and turn baggy. But oh well – comfort is the bestest.

_DSC0102

And one more nod to the 90s – high tops. I’ve had a thing for high tops for a couple of years now and was looking for those perfect ones. These awesome converse are from Marimekko collection. Found them for a great price on asos back in February. Here is a little behind the scenes story about the collaboration.

A few more details of the outfit – the awesomeness that is this indigo bag (it is insanely comfortable to carry) and some more weirdness of my pants – zippers!

…some more of the t-shirt..

and the bag again…

Cheers.
