Repetition 2

Standard

I like new stuff. Even though it is rather consumerist, but new things have a positive effect on me. If I am even contemplating on getting a new piece, I get immediate rush of creativity – all kinds of outfits start popping in my head.

I was not sure about the dress. It is quite a staple on its own. It makes the outfit. So it seems too easy, you don’t need much effort in choosing the rest of the stuff. And I am not the one to do the things the easy way. But I sure am glad, that I convinced myself to get the dress after all.

And the dress has a story of course, not just me contemplating whether or not to get it. I got it back in July, when I went to Detroit for work. And shopping at an outlet mall was a must experience. My colleague and friend was coming to the mall to shop with me after her 9 hour flight. Talk about dedication! Unfortunately some later experiences turned my journey a bit sour – I got stuck at the airport the next day due to the cancelled flight and celebrated my birthday the next day in the office and on a subsequent flight home…Ridiculous way to celebrate your 30th, especially when you decide to drown your sorrows and flight attendant asks if you are old enough to drink alcohol. And this is the point – clothes have sentimental value.

Back to the outfit and how little effort is good sometimes. You just switch the shoes and you’re good to go. No lingering in front of the closet.

Outfit 1: dress – Calvin Klein, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – Zara.

Outfit 2: dress- Calvin Klein, shoes – Schuh, bag – Zara.

PINK! Yet again…

Standard

I just mentioned in the previous post, that I am into low key clothing at the moment. Well, this post is not a total contradiction (obviously) – the in yo face pink skirt is the only in your face thing in this outfit. And yes, I wore this to the office.

The one thing that obsessive fashion blog browsing has taught me is, that there is nothing wrong with wearing bright colors in Autumn and Winter. And since the fabric of the skirt is quite thick, I intend to wear it well way into Autumn at least, maybe combining them with some knee high boots. We’ll see how it goes.

And the rest of the outfit just lets the skirt do the talking. Twirling is better than twerking anyway.

You will be seeing much more of this bag, because this bag basically became the only bag that matters during the last couple of months. It helps me keep the outfits office-y. And I can do my grocery shopping without any additional bag, another awesome feature, that is much appreciated in the bags (and yes people do stare at you if you put your milk and sausage in the bag). And look how it can stand on its own! That’s a good bag!

Some random close ups and details of the skirt. It has a bow belt! How can you not love it.

And please ignore my finger in the next pic, the edge just did not want to stay up after a day at the desk.

So there you have it.

Outfit: body – Ganni, skirt – ASOS, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – Zara.

Cheers.

Pseudo ballerina

Standard

this is my interpretation of ballerina outfit. The skirt ist not really a tutu, but I think it works. A body or however you may call it also suits the purpose and the shoes are called after ballerinas so, we’re good.

Found this thang on sale on zalando. It is my now go to top for work. It is conservative, but with a certain flare – a bit of nakedness in the back, sailor collar in the front (sorry for the wrinkled shot – I do not have a stylist on the shoot), tight, but not too tight.

As per usual – goofy photos, because who wants to be serious.

some more mug shots:

and one more photos, because my new lens is that awesome:

Outfit details: Top/body – Ganni, skirt – United Colors of Benetton, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – cannot remember, something from yoox.

Cheers.

Fashion dreams

Standard

I mean litterally, when you sleep and dream of fashion. A while back I dreamed something about Anna Wintour and wearing socks with my heels… (which looks cool, but I feel sorry then for the stretched out shoes).

A couple of nights ago I dreamed that someone had stole my pretty ballerina shoes (both pairs!) and placed some of my old shoes in the shoe boxes. And this happened at work in a changing room (which we do not even have)…

Cheers

Yellow

Standard

Yellow is just because after I looked through photos, that I noticed yellow bench and flowers. Other than that, the outfit has nothing to do with yellow.

Actually the outfit has everything to do with the hat. I passed by this cute littlo shop in the old town. We were too early on a Saturday, so only window shopping was possible. This straw hat caught my attention immediately, but I could not really do anything about it. So I forgot all about it until we were in the town on another Saturday morning at a more decent hour. I tried it on then and there and of course I had to buy it. And of course I had to wear it the same day and since the weather was unexpectedly warm and we planned to go somewhere anyway I saw THE opportunity.

The door in the picture on the right can wait until I am finished blabbering on about the outfit. It is there just for the visual balance.

So, what is going on here outfit wise. First of all the in-yo-face floral pants. Of course it is not so in-yo-face when you live in the blogosphere, but believe me – those babies earned me a lot of disapproving looks. I’m sure once I wear them to work, I will get even more. Then my impractically white ballerinas. I must say – approved. Comfortable, really well done with a lot of attention to detail. I just got a bit of a blister on the heel, which is totally expected with new shoes.

Simple white v-neck t-shirt and a jean jacket, since i could not come up with anything else. And of course THE HAT and a straw clutch, so the hat would not be totally out of the context. THE HAT actually reminds me a bit of a bonnet from 1850 or smth. I was browsing for a picture of a bonnet to at least try and show what I mean by that aand found this weirdly cool website for costume supplies. So there you have it.

And ta-da – the new glasses. Frame – Moschino. I think they deserve a separate post.

Outift details: pants – H&M, t-shirt – Esprit, jacket – Sisley, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, clutch- the Body Shop and the HAT – Seeberger.

Ah, and the door – awesome isn’t it?

Cheers

Orange hippos

Standard

Another polyvore set. Again some orange and blue, this time just as hints of color popping up from under jacket or pinned to the ear.

Orange hippos

I actually bought this bag (in another color – garnet) and pants and have similar shoes. I wanted to create an outfit that I could actually imagine wearing.

I was puzzled by the brand of the bag. It says D2, but no tags came with it so I have no idea what that is. I don’t think it has anything to do with Dsquared2, but who knows.

THE Leggings

Standard

I finally figured out my password to my gmail account for the gallery with all the blog photos. I think I harassed someone accidentally, because it appears that I had forgotten my username as well and send requests about forgotten passwords and account unlocking to Google about someone else accounts…

THE leggings and what an odyssey it was to get them.. I was sitting half a day on November 17th clicking refresh every couple of minutes, since the website of H&M was not able to handle all the crazy shoppers.

Guess what? After the package arrived, surprise surprise – leggings were in a totally different size than I ordered! I was really disappointed and pissed. Who can mix up 36 with 42?! There was immediate rushing to the computer to order another pair. And of course 36 had already sold out. So I got 38 instead. Then after a couple of weeks the package came again. Oh joy! Tearing of a package and!..huh? Am I missing something? There was supposed to be a bag with some extremely bright seizure inducing colours here. Turns out – they sent me a long ugly coloured too big in size cardigan!

Anyway, I did not want to do anything anymore with H&M online store for this particular item(of course I called and yelled at them that I do not want to buy this thing anymore..another long story), so I ordered them on Ebay. Of course, I could have waited for ladies to return the stuff, since they had realized by now that they will not wear the clown leggings (I saw such comment on the interwebs – apparently clowns wear such pants..I thought they wear huge wide leg ones..whatever) and I could have gotten them eventually and maybe even on sale. But since I was really really really obsessed with those damn leggings and really really really pissed with the store, that I did not care anymore that I had to overpay on Ebay.

So. Here they are! (drums) The epic leggings from the epic Versace for H&M collection.

Naturally we are not experiencing the weather for suitable for the above outfits yet, but the world deserves to see.

Wearing:

The first picture: H&M dress, THE leggings and asos wedge shoes.

The second picture: shirt from my husband’s closet, belt from my mom’s closet, THE leggings and the Pretty Ballerinas. There is also a Desigual clutch in my hands. Nevermind the hair thing on my wrist.

So there.

Investment

Standard

When I moved to Germany and did not have a job for a while, a change of shopping attitude was in order. During that time I learned how to buy stuff. Most of my purchases from that time were bought on sale or at least some of the credit from earlier purchases used. So I never paid full price. The buys were also considered for a while before buying, because I had to make sure I will use the stuff. I am proud to say – none of the things lay around.

Since I have a job again and can put some money aside I decided to go back to my original philosophy of paying a bit more for shoes or bags, but getting my money’s worth. I have shoes that I bought 5 years ago they are still in a good condition, despite being worn rather often. And there are bags that I used daily for several years and after getting sick of them I gave them to my mom. And she gladly uses them now. So you see what I am getting at.

Now even if I can afford to do a bit of shopping now and then, I made a conscious decision not to buy stuff for a full price unless it is something really special and I cannot continue my existence without it (which happens rather rarely). It is a bit annoying to wait for a sale. And after you got stuff on sale you will not necessarily be able to wear the stuff directly (which I prefer) due to the fact that the season has already come to an end and you will need to wait about half a year to wear it… but at least you will not have overpaid. Of course, this also mean, that you will most likely jump on a trend wagon later than everyone else and that feels a bit like mimicking… Which bothers me and because of this fact some outfits were not photographed. But oh well, I do not buy stuff for being trendy, I buy stuff for being awesome regardless if it is on trend or not. They will make it to the blog eventually.

Anyway. Back to shoes and bags… I guess that is an investment of sorts. I would like to pass those on to my kids someday. I remember when I used to play with my mom’s old purses and shoes a lot as a kid and it would bring me a lot of joy… I hope to give that to my kids one day too.

So, here is my first investment so to speak. The shoes were on sale and I got a coupon from my in laws for Christmas:

Pretty Ballerinas with a bow

Rather expensive brand of shoes- Pretty Ballerinas, I don’t think I would ever let myself pay a full price, plus you can always get something from last season significantly cheaper. But I read only good reviews so far and they do look really good and are comfortable. They are cut very nicely so the edges do not cut into my bones (I had once a pair of really nicely looking ballerinas from Zara..they would kill my littlo bones on the inner side of a foot even when I wore them only in the office and did not do too much of walking. Death to such shoes!), which is very important. Will see how it will go in Spring, when I can take them out. I expect some blisters on the heel, but it is a usual thing for me. Other than that, it does not feel that the shoes need any kind of breaking in, which is also a good sign. My feet are a bit on a wide side and I try to refrain from shoes which need breaking in. Our feet are entitled to a better treatment, am I right?

So the moral of the story is – I guess that it can be another New Year’s resolution – buy good bags and shoes. On sale. Make an heirloom out of your stuff. Make your closet be worth something.

p.s. I guess there will be a lot of stalking on Ebay and Yoox this year…
