Butterflies

Standard

As I mentioned in one post before – one part of the botanical garden in Marburg is especially cool – the butterfly house.

We color-coordinated outfits with the butterfly above.

Not much to tell – was the third time trolling around the garden, so just no story here. Just an outfit and some pictures of butterflies.

Crocs

Standard

That’s right, yo! (I’ve been watching way too many episodes of Breaking Bad). Well not really. No matter how open to all the weirdness that is fashion I am, I still cannot get on board with the “classic” crocs. Though the new models I saw are actually not bad at all. But that is totally off the point.

Continuing the outfits from the botanical garden, I give you – crocodiles and palms.

This skirt happened almost two years ago with Versace for H&M. I hadn’t managed to wear it last summer. But I made sure that it did not lay around my closet this year. Silk in summer – very important. And how about those metal corners! Oh the attention to detail…

I went the easy way with the outfit – white t-shirt – done. Plus, you cannot overstretch your brain in the heat, while making too many complicated decisions. So the easy way – totally justifiable. The bag and shoes are from yesterday’s post, because – see previous sentence.

The bracelet is from ADR for H&M collection and is pretty flashy for my taste. But I managed to squeeze it in a couple of outfits this summer.

And last but not least – the shoes! Crocheted Toms. I am insanely happy with them – were my hand down favorite shoes this summer – proper ventilation – also very important!

I have no idea why, but cactuses (cacti!) seemed fitting in this post, so enjoy:

and some more…

Botanical Garden

Standard

so after two years of living here, we’ve finally managed to get our butts to this magical place that is botanical garden in Marburg.

Naturally it was only fitting to wear something with flowers. I got this dress on a disappointing shopping trip in Dusseldorf, where I was working at the time. It was the only thing I got that day and a colleague of mine came back empty handed.

It was pretty damn hot that day, which turned us into demotivated snails – we were shuffling around the place while being on a constant lookout for benches in the shade. Still the experience was really nice. I liked the green houses a lot, especially the butterfly area and the Mexico with all the cactuses (I KNOW, it is cacti). More pictures still to come.

I am also expanding my collection of the hats, but I still don’t have anything that would have gone well with this outfit. The sun was really blazing and we, of course, went during the hottest hours of the day. I just had to have something to cover my head, even though I was not really feeling that the hat goes with the whole outfit. Oh well, at least I can say, I am not a total fashion victim.

Cheers.

Annoyance

Standard

I didn’t have proper conditions to take pictures of this outfit, when I was wearing it (what a surprise…). Just before New Year my husband and I went to see ‘Grease’ (the clothes were awesome 😀 performance…not so much). Light in the evening was, of course, crappy, so I thought to myself – next time…

Today while laying in bed I finally realized, that there actually IS a spot at home, that I could use for taking pictures, just need to move some stuff around, but… It is a plain white wall and my camera very stubbornly refused to focus automatically…my visions is worse than  my camera’s so my manual focus magic didn’t turn out too well either…There were more outfits from this infamous photo shoot, but everything is blurry, in other words – total embarrassment… Not that this isn’t, but I am just sick of not having posted any outfits in a while because of the quality of the pictures. So, the point is to document what I wear, evaluate and evolve, right? 🙂 In other words – no matter how lame the pictures are, at least these have to reach the world out there.

Outfit is not exactly complete – no make up unfortunately, but I got so annoyed adjusting the camera, that I could not be bothered putting more effort into something that is usually not very important for me (or was…as of Christmas I expanded my make up kit and it is not limited anymore to just mascara). Also, I was wearing a black long sleeved top under the dress, so I would not get cold.

Outfit: dress – Promod, belt – vintage from my mom, boots – Bronx, tights – Asos, ring – something from Disney collection, cannot remember the brand, earrings – from India.

I just love this trend, that’s been around for quite a long while now – BELTING! FTW! I think it is a really nice way to add that something to the outfit. I am not very good at it…yet 😀 This is the only outfit so far that I can pull off (except for belts in jeans, which are more of a necessity rather than a fashion choice).

The ring was a birthday gift from my friends (from my wish list), it is from Alice in Wonderland collection or smth :). Follow the white rabbit (Matrix alert!…dear lord…my mind just cannot stick to one thing at a time, can it?). Continuing a short acquisition story – I bought the dress back in 2008, when I worked in Budapest. Quite nice to have things from all over the world in my closet 🙂 It is not just about fashion or style, but also – about memories 🙂 And this dress did enjoy Budapest 😀

Cheers.

p.s. note to self – get a remote control for the camera.

Outfit post. Posing in the garden.

Standard

We are trying to put our two remaining ferrets with a new company. Since we had a chance to go to the garden of the people who have our potential pets, I decided to try some posing where people cannot see me 😀 Turns out..I’m not that much of a poser… But I did manage to pick few photos out of the bunch of fail. Here goes.

Shirt – Zara, jeans – Esprit, belt – vintage, shoes – Bronx, earrings – gift from my cousin, bracelet – gift, watch – Casio.

Please nevermind the messy hair and focus on clothes 🙂 I wanted a similar shirt for a while now, sort of a loos fit. I found it in Zara in Cologne last week. I love the role up sleeves and the dark blue colour. Will need to investigate how it looks with long sleeves though.

Jeans were aquired in Budapest. I was coming back to them until I found them on sale (and they were still too expensive, but I got them :D). I really love the cut of these jeans. Also the light denim and the percentage of elastane make them really perfect for summer. Definitely my favorite pair.

I got the belt from my moms closet. I’m glad she did not get rid of some oldies, because I found some real treasures when I was visiting back in May.

Shoes are quite old. I got them back in Lithuania around three years ago. A bit of a pain to look after them and after some time I see that I would prefer different heel instead of the wooden one. But they go really well with jeans (not so much with skirts) which cover the heel, so not a big deal then :).

Cheers.

Outfit post. New camera try outs.

Standard

Some days simply disappeared. Su much has happened in the last week, that after a calm day passes, you forget it ever existed. So, now that it happened, that we have a new camera (Nikon d3000), we needed to mark the occassion by taking it outside. Plus the weather was finally nice.

First the outfit, more try out results in the next post.

Jersey top – asos, jacket – Retro jeans, jeans – FLG jeans , belt and scarf – esprit, shoes – Converse(got last year in London), bag – Lacoste(from Ebay), earrings – gift from my cousin, vintage camera – Zorki 4K family heirloom.

A portrait picture, to check what our camera can do. I always liked the manual focus possibility, which I could not achieve with my point and shoot Lumix TZ3.

The whole outfit gives me a bit of 70s or early 80s feeling. I like. The top combination was already seen here. I wrote before, that I sort of repeat the same clothes, but now that I think about it, I do not want to show ALL NEW stuff on my blog. It is actually fun to wear same clothes differently. I like that the top combination goes well with a skirt as well as with jeans. So I think that I will continue on similar path. Because well, not everyone (including yours truly) can afford to have a vast wardrobe and show new clothes in every post (unless they do their posts rather rarely :)). So there, philosophy of my blog is starting to shape up.

I asked my dad to bring me his old camera. As a kid I always fiddled around with it and now I finally get to try it too 🙂 We bought 4 films and they are all 36 frames, which is kind of annoying – it will take some time to use up the film and see if anything good came out.

And here is mah man (mah husband! I should say). We both need time to adjust to the camera, it has so much functions, that we learn via trials and mistakes. This picture turned out a bit to bright, but I am  not one of those people who will NOT put crappy (depending on the point of view) pictures in public 😀 The important thing here is, that the oufit is visible, right?

Oufit: cap – Starter, pullover and cargo pants – H&M, shoes – converse, backpack – Campus.

And here is some more fiddling around. I kind of like this overexposure. Looks like a vintage photo. So there you go. Have a nice day.

Cheers.

Outfit post (what I wore this Summer)

Standard

Since the weather does not allow me to repeat any outfits that I wore this Summer, and take pictures, I need to dress up for a ‘photoshoot’ 🙂

Here we go. This was an outfit that I sported several times back in June and July.

Top – Esprit, skirt and earrings – from a market in India, Sandals – Oasis, bag – vintage (I never thought that I would use such a fancy word to describe a bag I got from my grandma :D), bangles – India, Lithuania, Russia.

Please subtract the glasses from the picture. During the peak of usage of this outfit, it was simply too hot and too annoying to wear glasses, I needed to stick contacts in my eyes.

The skirt was aquired back in Autumn of 2007, when I was in India for my SAP course (yes, I’m a geek). Me and my colleagues went to the market called Dilli Haat (cannot guarantee that this is the correct spelling) to get presents for the people waiting for them back home :D. You need to pay to enter this market, I am a bit afraid to lie how much it costs, but it is really cheap (less than 1 euro for sure…maybe 15 rupees), but because of this fee there are no beggars, which, if you’ve been to India you will agree, is really relieving. The sellers rotate every two weeks, so you never know what you might find there. We bought a huge pile of wool scarves for ‘special price’, which would be given by us :). My colleague annoyed the sellers (he may have been Indian in his past life) until they would cave 😀 Anyway. I saw this skirt in that market too, while looking for a present for my niece. (She got a skirt with littlo bells :)) It is slightly too big, but I make it work :).

The bag goes really well with this whole outfit, IMHO. Strentghens the hippie vibe. I remember I asked my grandma around 9 years ago if she still had the bag and she asked to make sure – ‘that potatoe sack?’. After I got it from her, I dragged it around with me A LOT. Since it is made out of some synthetic material which is rather hard, the straps would break from time to time, my father was regularly employed by me to sow them back together 🙂 This Summer I took the bag out again. It is awesome and I can say, that I have true piece of vintage in my closet :D.

The shoes (please nevermind the non existant pedicure). After seeing a collection from Prada with chandelier sandals and investigating Melissa Lady dragon shoes, I knew I would not be opposed to wearing plastic shoes. This was just a thought in the back of my head, not a conscious decision. But after I saw these on Asos, while looking for flat sandals for Summer, I knew I have to get them. They were definitely a hit this Summer, I wore them non stop. They go with everything 😀

Earrings. I got them at the same Dilli Haat market in India. All earrings I got in India are so heavy…They drag my ears down, but oh well, I love them!

Btw, I got a new haircut 🙂 It is perfect to have a friend who is a hairdresser. 🙂

Cheers.
