I like new stuff. Even though it is rather consumerist, but new things have a positive effect on me. If I am even contemplating on getting a new piece, I get immediate rush of creativity – all kinds of outfits start popping in my head.
I was not sure about the dress. It is quite a staple on its own. It makes the outfit. So it seems too easy, you don’t need much effort in choosing the rest of the stuff. And I am not the one to do the things the easy way. But I sure am glad, that I convinced myself to get the dress after all.
And the dress has a story of course, not just me contemplating whether or not to get it. I got it back in July, when I went to Detroit for work. And shopping at an outlet mall was a must experience. My colleague and friend was coming to the mall to shop with me after her 9 hour flight. Talk about dedication! Unfortunately some later experiences turned my journey a bit sour – I got stuck at the airport the next day due to the cancelled flight and celebrated my birthday the next day in the office and on a subsequent flight home…Ridiculous way to celebrate your 30th, especially when you decide to drown your sorrows and flight attendant asks if you are old enough to drink alcohol. And this is the point – clothes have sentimental value.
Back to the outfit and how little effort is good sometimes. You just switch the shoes and you’re good to go. No lingering in front of the closet.
Outfit 1: dress – Calvin Klein, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – Zara.
Outfit 2: dress- Calvin Klein, shoes – Schuh, bag – Zara.
OK, so this is a more boyish outfit, than I normally wear. I would have been quit comfy in it, if it weren’t for the pants, which keep sliding down…and they have only tiny belt loops for a tiny belt, which does not hold your pants anyway…And the shoes are not the comfiest, but more on that a bit later.
I tried to make the pants look good, but you’ll be the judge of that. Now I know why models get paid…Not everyone can make anything look good…
So, I give you – the awkward pictures.
Some more awkward shots.
Let’s talk sweater for a moment. I got it (of course) on sale last year. I el oh vee e the silk front. Transforms the outfit from boring office to slightly less boring with a twist. And of course my trusty work bag makes an appearance…again. And no, I am not sick of it.
And the shoes – I inherited them – my mom’s friend was about to throw them out, but my mom yelled, that Julija will wear them for sure, grabbed them and did not let go. They do look cool, but…as usual with worn footwear (this is why I do not buy second hand shoes), the shoe adjusted itself to former owner’s foot and of course – in the front they are too tight and in the back too wide…No idea what I am gonna do with them, but they are unfortunately not very wearable. I forget that from time to time and put them on in spite of prior knowledge of their wearability and at the end of the day I just curse.
So there, another office outfit.
Outfit: sweater – H&M, pants – H&M, shoes – Bally, bag – Zara.
Cord is my best friend, when the temperatures plummet. It doesn’t attract cold, unlike jeans. And if it is on sale – go for it. Just go for it.
Ok, so first – the nicer pictures. Nevermind the hair on the face.
I found the pants while browsing on amazon. Who does not want pants reduced to 18€?! I was a bit paranoid at first, because who reduces pants to 18?! And people were complaining that the quality is not so awesome. I am quite happy though. No ripped pockets or anything. Does not stretch too much. The only thing I had to do is to take the pants to the tailor and get them shortened. Since I had a bunch of stuff in the To alter pile anyway, it was no biggie. And the result is great – love the new length and the pants do not wrinkle up anymore! I am still contemplating on getting them in another colour. Because it is a well known fact, that winter is coming and not all pants cost 18€.
Here are some awkward pictures… Me picking up trash from the floor etc.
Wore this outfit to work. At first I had a bit of a difficulty styling the pants, because the waist is higher, than that of all of my other pants. And the proportions can look a bit awkward. But I think this one worked out pretty well.
And, of course, close up of the shoes. Pointy toes!
Outfit: blouse – Second Female, cords – also Second Female, blazer – H&M, pumps – Vagabond, bag – Zara.
I just mentioned in the previous post, that I am into low key clothing at the moment. Well, this post is not a total contradiction (obviously) – the in yo face pink skirt is the only in your face thing in this outfit. And yes, I wore this to the office.
The one thing that obsessive fashion blog browsing has taught me is, that there is nothing wrong with wearing bright colors in Autumn and Winter. And since the fabric of the skirt is quite thick, I intend to wear it well way into Autumn at least, maybe combining them with some knee high boots. We’ll see how it goes.
And the rest of the outfit just lets the skirt do the talking. Twirling is better than twerking anyway.
You will be seeing much more of this bag, because this bag basically became the only bag that matters during the last couple of months. It helps me keep the outfits office-y. And I can do my grocery shopping without any additional bag, another awesome feature, that is much appreciated in the bags (and yes people do stare at you if you put your milk and sausage in the bag). And look how it can stand on its own! That’s a good bag!
Some random close ups and details of the skirt. It has a bow belt! How can you not love it.
And please ignore my finger in the next pic, the edge just did not want to stay up after a day at the desk.
So there you have it.
Outfit: body – Ganni, skirt – ASOS, shoes – Pretty Ballerinas, bag – Zara.
On Saturday we did some random running around the town, buying expensive food and stuff. Got some fancy oil with herbs, some Christmas liquors to try out (considering to make this year’s gifts edible/drinkable :)). No no, we’re not in Christmas shopping frenzy, but it never hurts to have ideas, right?
My wedge ankle boots are the bestest shoes I own and I wear them almost all the time. Since they have a littlo hippy vibe to them and 70 rock in general, I went for my flared jeans (not sure if this kind of cut is called flare, but it is wider than boot cut, so I think it should be flare :D) and hippy blouse from zara. I like the blue and yellow combination from earlier post, so thought – you can never go wrong with this 😀 Other stuff – my standard Autumn coat and also my standard Autumn/Winter bag from Sisley (during this time of year this combination is sort of inescapable…).
Outfit: jacket and jeans – Esprit, shirt – pull and bear, top – Zara, shoes – ASOS, bag – sisley, scarf – soaked in luxury.
So far I think the photos for this post turned out the best out of all my photo shoots (thanks to my photographer/husband, who was carrying the bags and was patient enought to take photos :)). I remembered to smile more or less while posing and didn’t forget to pose while smiling :D. Plus, didn’t forget to get some detail shots. Improvin’ – you’re doin’ it rite 🙂
p.s. one of these earrings broke..I have no idea how – I was just stading in the bathroom in front of the mirror and one of the stones just fell into the sink… Mah man needed to perform some plumbing exercises on the sink to get it out…
I had a couple of friends visiting this weekend and while showing them around managed to make some pictures of my outfit.
Outfit: scarf and coat – Esprit, shoes – Asos, bag – Takko, tights – cannot remember. Not visible: skirt – Esprit, stripped sweater – Zara and t-shirt – New Yorker.
The shoes are…there are not words to describe. They are so beautiful, and the price I paid, makes them astonishing 😀 Original price was 110 pounds and I got them for 33! The heel is perfectly proportioned with the shape and they look great. AND they do not hurt my feet at all and are so comfortable. I walked around in them all day and evening(no band aids!). Even some accidental dancing happened. And all this didn’t result in any blisters. So…I’m in love.
Originally there were two colours: the one above and another one, hm..copper would be the best to describe. I really liked them both, but decided, since I have knee boots of similar colour I will go for the colder one with contrasting shoe laces 🙂 But I think both pairs would have found their place in my wardrobe.
And here are more Autumn colours.
Hope you had a nice weekend as well. I still need rest 😀
Even though the weather is still spoiling us with warmth and sun, I just need to start wearing Autumn clothes. I hate being in between – either Summer or Autumn.
Anyway. I stocked up on colourful tights from asos and this is the second outing for these particular ones.
Since it was too warm for booties and I really really wanted to wear coloured tights, I went for pairing them with sandals. I don’t remember ever wearing tights together with sandals…to me it always seemed such a violation of rules of good taste… I sure am glad I started reading fashion blogs. I learned to appreciate a lot of things I somehow could not accept before.
Outfit: top – Zara, skirt – s.Oliver, tights – ASOS, sandals – Clarks, coat – Etam, scarf – Soaked in Luxury, bag – Mango, butterfly pendant – from mom.
The outfit began with tights and other parts just came together instantly. But they were all dark. I needed something bright. I think the result turned out pretty well – yellow works great and I was really feeling the oufit.
And I think my photographer is really starting to get a grip on what kind of pictures I want to have.
And here is the full outfit. The only thing that was lacking IMHO (and according to my husband as well) – some shoe clips to brighten up the lower part of the whole outfit. I discovered some really nice examples, but I gave oath to myself not buy anything anymore at least until Christmas. But maybe I’ll do the post on them.
The scarf has a story behind it. I bought it at the Copenhagen airport while waiting for the transfer and I was really in love with it. I wore it with everything, everywhere. But then I went to Limp Bizkit concert and lost the scarf… I was really upset, but I was lucky to travel again through Copenhagen a couple of weeks later and they still had a couple left! I had a short transfer so I had to run to the store…Good thing it was on my way 😀
And here are some Autumn colours from our littlo town.
Enjoy the Autumn!
We are trying to put our two remaining ferrets with a new company. Since we had a chance to go to the garden of the people who have our potential pets, I decided to try some posing where people cannot see me 😀 Turns out..I’m not that much of a poser… But I did manage to pick few photos out of the bunch of fail. Here goes.
Shirt – Zara, jeans – Esprit, belt – vintage, shoes – Bronx, earrings – gift from my cousin, bracelet – gift, watch – Casio.
Please nevermind the messy hair and focus on clothes 🙂 I wanted a similar shirt for a while now, sort of a loos fit. I found it in Zara in Cologne last week. I love the role up sleeves and the dark blue colour. Will need to investigate how it looks with long sleeves though.
Jeans were aquired in Budapest. I was coming back to them until I found them on sale (and they were still too expensive, but I got them :D). I really love the cut of these jeans. Also the light denim and the percentage of elastane make them really perfect for summer. Definitely my favorite pair.
I got the belt from my moms closet. I’m glad she did not get rid of some oldies, because I found some real treasures when I was visiting back in May.
Shoes are quite old. I got them back in Lithuania around three years ago. A bit of a pain to look after them and after some time I see that I would prefer different heel instead of the wooden one. But they go really well with jeans (not so much with skirts) which cover the heel, so not a big deal then :).
